Michael Denny Music Composer and Music Producer


Michael Denny is a versatile composer, music producer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist who has built a significant portfolio of work across a range of musical styles for various media. Michael prides himself on attention to detail while creating fresh, exciting and emotional soundtracks unique to each project to enhance the experience for the intended audience.

Michael worked with Calm CEO Michael Acton Smith to compose music for focus, relaxation and sleep culminating in the launch of the Calm Music, in December 2017 Calm was named Apple App of the year. Michael recently released the album Aurora: Music for Relaxation and is currently working on a number of projects for clients worldwide.

Michael composes for a range of library music albums with his latest release ‘Cinematic Ambiences’ on the Lovely Music label to be followed by tracks covering genres including neo-classical, indie, pop punk and atmospheric soundscapes. Michael recently produced two demos titled 'Ghost Ships' and 'Tainted Future' for the Gothic Instruments Dronar Master Edition.

As a sound designer, sample content, loops and field recordings and have been produced for Sample Magic, Native Instruments Sounds and MusicTech Magazine. The 'Ambient Textural Toolkit' and 'Lo-Fi Piano' packs were top ten bestsellers and ‘Atmospheric Textures’ was a MusicTech Magazine exclusive included on the cover-mount DVD.

Michael has released number of solo records, the latest album 'Noir' is part of Emotive Soundtracks, a collaboration with Olympic Gold Medal winning Dressage Composer Tom Hunt. Previous releases include ‘We Still Have Hope’, ‘The Moment When You Realise EP’ and the album ‘Sound as a Weapon’.

Michael is the founder of the music and creative industry website The Audio Tapes with regular blog content covering topics ranging from productivity and professional development to software reviews, recommendations and tips articles. Michael has also written content for Red Dog Music Blog and the Sample Magic Journal.

Commercially Michael has worked with several filmmakers including Seb Montaz-Rosset and Christophe Margot with moving image credits include Red Bull Media House, Salomon Sports, Kilian’s Quest, Mavic, Lange, Scott Sports, Ruffwear and Montagne TV. Collaborations in theatre and dance have been performed at prestigious venues including the Science Museum IMAX Theatre (London), Brewery Arts Centre (Kendal), The Lowry (Manchester) and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Shoreditch Town Hall (London).

Michael is a lover of popular and contemporary music and has performed, written and recorded with a number of bands and artists. Highlights include being featured on BBC Radio One Huw Stephens Show as a member of the band MEDS followed by a live session recorded for BBC Introducing to performing as part of the comedy musical house band the Brett Domino Trio on ITVs Britains Got Talent and the Firebox organised Berwickstock Festival in London. Under the MDM RMX moniker Michael has remixed artists including Chvrches, Maximo Park, Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs), Chapel Club and Bayley (The Open).
